Cedar Point to plant Maria’s Field of Hope in honor of Lorain County girl who died in 2007

As September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, there’s one destination that has become a serene spot where many people are paying tribute.

Maria’s Field of Hope, which is located outside of Cedar Point’s Express Hotel in Sandusky, was started seven years ago in Avon to honor Lorain County’s Maria McNamara and other children battling cancer.

The field reopened to the public last month. If interested, you can visit Marai’s Field of Hope as follows:

  • Weekdays: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 4-8 p.m.
  • Weekends: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

You can also dedicate a sunflower by donating some money to their cause HERE. Donations are used to help with cancer treatments.

“In honor of Maria, this dedication and prayers go to all children who are currently being treated for cancer,” the organization said in a post Tuesday.

3News’ Hollie Strano recently shared pictures of her visit to Maria’s Field of Hope with her daughter.
