Doha has been nominated in both leading business travel destination and sports tourism destination categories at the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) 2020.
A number of companies in Qatar’s travel, tourism and hospitality sectors have also been nominated in different categories of the awards which cover a broad spectrum including aviation, tourist attractions, hotels and resorts, meetings and events, travel agencies, tour operators and travel technology, among others.
Leading them is the country’s flag carrier Qatar Airways which is nominated in various categories including leading airline to the Middle East, leading airline to the Indian Ocean, Leading cultural airline, leading airline in customer experience, and leading excellence inflight service. It is also nominated in more award categories including first class, economy class, inflight entertainment, cabin crew, app, website and rewards programme.
Qatar National Convention Centre is nominated for leading meetings and conference centre while Aspire Academy for leading sports academy.
The St. Regis Doha has four nominations including leading business and conference hotel, leading business hotel, leading conference hotel, leading luxury business hotel, while W Doha Hotel and Residences has been nominated for leading hotel residences and leading lifestyle hotel.
La Cigale Hotel is nominated for leading hotel dining and entertainment experience while Royal Villa at Sharq Village and Spa is nominated for leading hotel villa.
Winners of various categories of the awards are determined though online voting by travel industry professionals and consumers worldwide.
Voting is now open and runs until October 25. The winners will be revealed on November 27. Votes can be cast via: https://www.worldtravelawards.com/nominees/2020/world
In addition to the World awards, WTA also has awards for different countries as well as regional awards for Europe, Asia, Oceania, Middle East, South America, Central America, North America, Africa, Indian Ocean & Caribbean. Winners in the Middle East region will be announced on November 4.
