The vehicles come fully loaded

Overland Yukon rents two kinds of kitted-out camping vehicles: Jeep Wranglers and Dodge Promaster’s converted into custom camper vans. The Jeeps seat up to five and come with rooftop tents and all-inclusive camping gear.

The vans have double beds and two- or three-seat options. Both are stylishly customized to look just as good on Instagram as they are comfortable and easy to drive. “It just gives that feeling of being on a extra-special trip. Everyone will ask you to see the interior of the van or climb the ladder of the rooftop tents,” says Pettitt.

Both options come equipped with everything the road tripper needs, from utensils and towels to electric coolers. Optional extras include ground tents, paddleboards, bicycles, fishing gear, packrafts and more. For a small fee, the company will even stock your cooler with groceries in advance. “We try to package the tours so that all you have to do is pack your personal items and hop on a 2-hour flight to Whitehorse,” says Pettitt.

The landscape is majestic beyond words

Could there be a more epic way to break out of a lockdown funk than disappearing into a tableau of gargantuan mountains, sparkling lakes and golden tundra dotted with wandering caribou?

Any direction you drive, you’re likely to be blown away, but Pettitt recommends using Whitehorse as a base and striking out in all directions from there (routes that circle through Alaska are also excellent, but won’t be possible while U.S. borders are closed).
